UGDECIDES21: SUPREME COURT STRUCKS OUT UNIVERSITY OF GHANA APPLICATION REQUEST TO QUASH ASUMADU SWEARING IN ORDER BY HIGH COURT

Today the 5th of April 2022 saw the Supreme Court strucking out a Certeorari application filed by the University of Ghana seeking to quash the 10th March high court ruling ordering the Swearing in of Prince Asumadu as SRC President. Lawyer for the University indicated to the court to seek leave of the court to an adjournment of the case Sine dire , however the court rejected that proposal and Lawyers for the University withdrawn the Application and subsequently the application Struck out by the 5 members panel at the Supreme Court. The Presiding Judge, struck out the case accordingly making the ruling by the Accra High Court on March 10 2022 still holding.

UG MANAGEMENT SUED OVER SRC ELECTIONS

The management of the University  of Ghana have been dragged to the Accra High Court by the SRC President Elect, Prince Asumadu over deliberate attempt to twist the outcome of the SRC elections held on October 29th 2021. The petition is praying the court to order management to declare the ruling by the he Regina Apaloo Led Judicial Board as moot and unconditional since the School management, through the University of Ghana Legal Council, Pro VC ASA and Dean of Students Affairs, had earlier declared the said board as non-existing.   It will be remembered that, on November 11th 2021, the University of Ghana Legal Council in a memorandum to the Management of the University, through the Pro VC  BY ASA and the Dean of Students analyzed that, the Dean of Student Affairs has the jurisdiction to set up an Ad-Hoc committee since the Judicial Board was not in existence. #UGDECIDES: ACCRA HIGH COURT PLACES INJUNCTION ON SRC TRANSITION PROCESSES .

  The Accra High Court has placed an injunction on the swearing in of any candidate as the SRC President of the University of Ghana. According to the writ cited, The Accra High Court has placed an injunction on a possible swearing in ceremony of a new SRC President. This was granted as a relief sought by the SRC President Elect, Prince Asumadu.   This comes after the SRC Judicial Board in its contempt ruling added that, following the cancellation of the Sarbah and Akuafo Hall Elections, Samuel Amos Ofosu should be sworn in as SRC President of the University of Ghana. According to Prince Asumadu, this was an attempt by the SRC President Kwame Amo Ntow Fianko, The SRC Chief Justice Regina Apaloo, The Dean of Student Prof. Godfred Alufar Bopkin and the University management to rob him of his victory and impose their favored candidate on the student body.  

BOAZ TWUMASI RESIGNS AS SECOND DEPUTY EC.

 Information reaching Legon Filla Headquarters indicates that, the Second Deputy Electoral Commissioner of the University of Ghana SRC Electoral Commission, Boaz Twumasi has resigned from his post as Second Deputy EC.  From our sources, the resignation is contained in a letter submitted to EXECOM and dated 19th December 2021.  In an EXECOM meeting held yesterday, 22nd December 2021, the Ag.SRC President, Kwame Amo Ntow Fianko indicated to EXECOM that, he has received the resignation letter from Boaz Twumasi. It is unclear what necessitated the resignation of Boaz Twumasi, however Campus Filla Headquaters is following the happenings on campus with regards to the SRC Transition and is poised on bringing you updates till the end.
